How it works
Lumberjack uses a web browser on portable devices for input into a server-based, on-location logging system.
Lumberjack uses keyword buttons for people, places, action, content and then directly associates the keyword ranges with media, using time of day.

Lumberjack is designed for reality and documentary production where scene/shot/take do not apply. It enforces consistent keyword logging, that is customizable to the production and field updatable. When released we expect to be able to transfer the data directly to clip information in Final Cut Pro X, Final Cut Pro 7 and Adobe Prelude. (We’re also exploring a Media Composer solution.)
With Lumberjack there are no unreadable notes, no data loss or misinterpretation.
Lumberjack can also create a selects string-out for review, based on activites or other keywords.
Lumberjack Logger logs all data to a central server from multiple on-location devices (iPads, tablets, smartphones etc.), so valuable metadata isn’t lost if something happens to the mobile device. That data is merged with XML (FCP 7 or FCP X format) from a NLE (or direct to Prelude) by the Lumberyard desktop application. Data is stored in a network accessible standard MySQL database.
